The King Township Public Library and Seniors Centre are pleased to announce that we are the recipients of the 2025 Governor General's Award for Architecture. Presented by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, recognizing Canada’s top architecture and landscape architecture honours to outstanding Canadians during a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on February 13th.

The building was designed by the talented team at Kongats Architects. This building is more than just a structure; it is a symbol of our community’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity and sustainability. The design of this facility, resembling an open hand, beautifully captures the essence of King’s community spirit.

The glass study rooms and the light-filled reading areas offer a harmonious blend of spaces that cater to diverse needs while providing stunning views of our natural surroundings. The use of stone, wood and glass not only enhances the building’s aesthetic appeal but also underscores our dedication to environmental sustainability.

As we celebrate this achievement, let us continue to cherish and utilize this incredible space, ensuring it remains a vibrant and welcoming hub for generations to come.
