Getting a Library Card

Membership

Free KTPL library cards are available for anyone who lives, owns property, works or attends school in the Township of King. Photo identification with your current address is required for registration. A valid Ontario Driver's Licence is acceptable as a single document. In other cases, proof of identification and current address are both required.

KTPL cards expire every two years. To renew, we need to verify your name, address, contact information and clear any outstanding fees. Be sure to update the Library if your email address or phone number changes.

Children (ages 13 and under) may register for a card accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who presents identification. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for their child's selection, usage and return of borrowed material as well as any fees incurred due to damaged or lost material.

eLibrary Card

An eLibrary card will allow you to access eBooks, eAudiobooks and our databases. You do not need to show identification to register for this card.

Hoopla is not available with an ecard. You will need to visit a branch for access to hoopla.

Lost Cards

Keep your card protected. You are responsible for items borrowed on your card until it has been reported lost or stolen. Report lost cards immediately to the Library to avoid misuse. Replacement cards are $1.00.

Neighbouring Libraries

Likewise, Township of King residents will be able to obtain a library card from their systems. We currently have agreements with Aurora, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Caledon, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Markham, New Tecumseth, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Whitchurch Stouffville.
