Tales from Afar: African and Caribbean Folklore with Kesha Christie (Grades 1 to 5)

This presentation will define folktales and their role in preserving history and lessons. It will also highlight the unique blends of cultures in the Caribbean and the impact of folklore and great stories.

Virtual Indigenous Paint Night

Ontario is home to many Indigenous species of turtles which can be found in almost any body of water. In this workshop, participants will get the opportunity to paint a 'painted turtle' art piece. Just like in the wild, every painting will feature unique waters and markings with your own artistic flair to call it your own!

Christine Miskonoodinkwe-Smith- is a Saulteaux woman from Peguis First Nation and the author of “These Are the Stories: Memories of a 60s Scoop Survivor” published by Kegedonce Press in December 2021. She is an author, editor, writer, and journalist who graduated from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Aboriginal Studies in June 2011 and went on to receive her Master’s in Education in Social Justice in June 2017.
